If you’ve tried to load the latest version of MSN Chat onto your M600 you’ll have noticed that Microsoft have introduced a fee.
This fee applies to the latest version of MSN Chat. The older version of the software doesn’t charge but it doesn’t work on Windows Mobile 5.
There is a way around this.
- Install an old version of MSN Chat from here
- Apply an upgrade to that version to get it working with Windows Mobile 5 from here
Works fine for me.
Update old version of MSN has been moved and can now be located here MSN messenger, see comments below for more information.

Adam
Thanks for the info here, much appreciated. For kp1 - the link is indeed old but I had a little explore and the upgrade files from Microsoft Spain seem to work fine (just pick the English language one if that’s what you’re after) - see the page at MSN
If that vanishes, then I’ve put the 2 files I’ve used successfully a couple of days ago on my WM5 phone on my site at Put MSN Back on Windows Mobile 5 - see at the bottom of the page.
